Petsflip Community Guidelines
We believe in free expression and the value of diverse voices. Petsflip is a community made richer by many perspectives and backgrounds. At the same time, our priority is to keep the community safe and welcoming for everyone. To do that, we place reasonable limits on content and behavior that threaten the safety, privacy, or dignity of our members.
Abusive conduct often falls hardest on people who are already marginalized. Petsflip is committed to preventing hateful, harassing, or demeaning conduct — especially where that conduct seeks to silence or intimidate people because of who they are.
If you see content or behavior you believe violates these guidelines, report it via the in-app report button or contact us at Contacts. These Community Guidelines are part of our Terms of Service and are enforced in accordance with the policies described below.
Content and Conduct Guidelines
Below are the rules and examples that describe the types of content and behavior that are not allowed on Petsflip. The list is comprehensive and is meant to provide clear guidance — it is not an exhaustive catalog of every possible scenario. We consider context and intent when evaluating reports.
1. Adult Content
Posting or streaming pornographic or sexually explicit material is not allowed on Petsflip. This includes any media intended to sexually arouse or that depicts sexual acts. Examples include (but are not limited to):
- Full or partial nudity where genitals, buttocks, or breasts are prominently displayed or highlighted.
- “Testing the line” with revealing clothing (excessive cleavage, extremely low-rise garments, sheer clothing that exposes private parts, thongs where the buttocks are the focal point, etc.).
- Obscene gestures intended to sexualize or provoke (including the middle finger used in a sexualized context).
- Images or video that simulate sexual acts, intercourse, or other explicit sexual behavior — including cartoons, hentai, or anime if used to sexualize people or minors.
2. Graphic Violence
Petsflip does not allow graphic, gratuitous, or gory depictions of violence. Content that focuses on death, serious injury, surgical detail, or mutilation is disallowed. Examples include:
- Gruesome crime or accident scenes where gore is highlighted.
- Graphic physical altercations with explicit injury, visible wounds, or exposed organs.
- Content featuring bodily fluids such as blood, feces, or other fluids used to shock or sexualize.
- Animal torture, killing, or severely injured animals shown in graphic detail.
3. Dangerous Activities or Products
We disallow content that promotes actions likely to cause serious injury or death, or that encourages others to replicate dangerous behavior. Examples include:
- Promotion or instruction for self-harm, suicide, or eating disorders.
- “Dares”, challenges, or games that put people at risk of serious harm.
- Promotion or instruction for dangerous controlled substances or unsafe drug use.
- Live streaming while operating a vehicle or encouraging behavior that risks safety.
4. Illegal or Regulated Goods and Services
Content that depicts, promotes, or facilitates illegal or heavily regulated goods and services is prohibited. Examples include:
- Counterfeit goods or services, or offers to facilitate them.
- Human trafficking or any content that advertises or normalizes trafficking.
- Illegal drugs (including marijuana where applicable) or drug paraphernalia for sale or promotion.
- Financial instruments offered outside regulated channels or advice that may enable fraud.
- Gambling content that promotes unlicensed gambling or betting services.
- Products made from endangered species or illegal wildlife trade.
- Prostitution or commercial sexual services, where the content is facilitating, soliciting, or advertising.
- Stolen goods, or offers to buy/sell items known to be stolen.
- Weapons (firearms, ammunition, explosives) or instructions on constructing weapons or explosives (e.g., bomb-making instructions, 3D-printed guns, etc.).
5. Unlawful Use
Do not use Petsflip to plan, commit, or advance unlawful activities. By using our platform you agree to comply with all applicable laws governing your online conduct and the posting of content.
6. Intellectual Property
Only post content you own or have permission to use. Do not upload or share content that infringes patent, trademark, trade secret, copyright, privacy, or other proprietary rights.
7. Unauthorized Use
Don’t post or stream someone else’s voice, image, or recordings without their permission. This includes content produced or shared without the consent of the person depicted or recorded.
8. Private Information
Sharing another person’s private information without their permission is strictly prohibited. Examples of private information include, but are not limited to:
- Home addresses, phone numbers, or personal email addresses.
- Bank account or payment details, government ID numbers.
- Photos or videos shared privately without consent.
Threatening to expose or encouraging others to share a person’s private information is also forbidden.
9. Spam and Security
Petsflip prohibits the use of the service for spam, abuse, or security breaches. Examples of disallowed behavior:
- Automated or programmatic account creation, posting, or scraping (bots) designed to spam or manipulate the platform.
- Uploading or transmitting malware, viruses, or harmful code.
- Using data scraping, robots, or automated tools to extract user data without authorization.
- Attempting to disrupt Petsflip operations or other users’ experience (DDoS, brute-force, etc.).
10. Advertising
Unsolicited or unauthorized advertising is not permitted. Users may not post or stream promotional content, spam, chain letters, pyramid schemes, or other forms of unsolicited solicitations unless explicitly allowed by Petsflip.
11. Impersonation
Do not impersonate other people, groups, or organizations to mislead, deceive, or confuse other users. Accurate representation of identity is required on Petsflip.
12. Violence and Physical Harm
Threats or content that encourages physical harm are strictly forbidden. This includes:
- Direct threats of violence against an individual or group.
- Content that promotes or praises violent acts, terrorist activity, or serious bodily harm.
- Encouraging others to commit violent acts or self-harm.
13. Minors
Content that includes or sexualizes minors (anyone under 18) is strictly prohibited. Minors are not permitted to appear in sexually explicit or suggestive material on Petsflip — even if the poster claims parental permission.
14. Child Endangerment or Sexual Exploitation
Petsflip has zero tolerance for any content that sexualizes or exploits children. Examples of prohibited content include (but are not limited to):
- Visual depictions of minors in sexually explicit or sexually suggestive acts.
- Computer-generated or illustrated content that sexualizes minors.
- Links to websites or services that host child sexual exploitation material.
- Any content that recruits, solicits, or offers commercial sexual activity involving a minor.
- Fantasizing about, promoting, expressing desire for, or otherwise normalizing child sexual exploitation.
If we find content that may depict or promote child sexual exploitation, we remove it immediately and report the matter to the relevant authorities and organizations (such as law enforcement and child protection agencies) as required by law.
15. Abusive Conduct
Harassment, intimidation, or attempts to silence others are not permitted. Abusive conduct includes (but is not limited to):
- Sustained or severe targeted harassment of an individual.
- Sexual harassment or sending unwanted sexual content to another user.
- Extortion, blackmail, doxxing, or attempts to monetarily exploit another user through threats.
- Publicly shaming or humiliating a person based on a tragedy or private circumstance.
Context matters — we consider whether the content was part of a broader conversation, whether it was directed at an individual or group, and whether the reported person is the primary target when deciding enforcement actions.
16. Hateful Conduct and Bullying
Petsflip prohibits hate speech, advocating violence, or demeaning individuals based on protected characteristics. Actions that are disallowed include but are not limited to:
- Violent threats based on race, religion, nationality, sexual orientation, gender identity, age, disability, veteran status, or other protected characteristics. Our policy enforces zero tolerance for such threats.
- Wishing serious harm, disease, or death on an individual or group (e.g., “I hope you die from cancer”).
- Content promoting mass violence, lynching, or other historical atrocities intended to target a group.
- Inciting fear or negative stereotypes about a group (e.g., claiming a religion or nationality is inherently criminal or dangerous).
- Repeated or non-consensual use of slurs, epithets, or tropes intended to degrade or dehumanize a protected group.
- Hateful imagery such as symbols associated with hate groups or images that portray others as less than human.
When evaluating content that appears hateful, we look at context. A protected group’s members may use reclaimed terms in ways that are not abusive. Petsflip does not ask users to prove membership in a protected category when investigating reports.
17. Misuse of the Reporting Feature
Petsflip provides tools for reporting illegal or inappropriate content. Misusing the reporting system — such as repeatedly filing obviously unfounded reports — may result in temporary or permanent restrictions. We treat misuse seriously but will warn users before applying penalties except in severe cases.
Whether reporting misuse has occurred depends on the volume and pattern of reports that are clearly unfounded within a short time frame.
18. Amendments
These Guidelines are not exhaustive. Petsflip reserves the right to interpret and apply these rules in our judgment and to update or clarify them as necessary. We will make reasonable efforts to communicate material changes to the community.
Consequences of Violating Our Community Guidelines
Violations of these Guidelines may result in one or more of the following enforcement actions, depending on the severity, frequency, and context:
- Content removal
- Warnings or temporary restrictions
- Temporary or permanent suspension of accounts
- Permanent account removal and prohibition on re-registering for a reasonable period or permanently
- Notification to law enforcement or other appropriate authorities when required by law (including for child exploitation or imminent threats to safety)
We seek to educate where possible, and our enforcement aims to be proportionate. Nevertheless, extremely severe violations (e.g., violent threats, child sexual exploitation) may result in immediate and permanent suspension upon initial review.
Petsflip Community Guidelines — Users in the EEA
The purpose of this section is to provide additional clarity and protections for users located in the European Economic Area (EEA). These rules supplement the general Petsflip Community Guidelines and are aligned with relevant European laws and the principles of transparency, proportionality, and the protection of fundamental rights.
These EEA-specific Guidelines apply to the Petsflip platform, including profiles, chats, and live streams. They are part of our Terms of Service and reflect Petsflip’s commitment to creating a trustworthy and safe space for dating, social interaction, and live content.
Our moderation decisions for EEA users are made with careful consideration of freedom of expression and a user’s right to personal development, balanced against the safety and protection of our community.
EEA — What We Expect
All users in the EEA are expected to:
- Behave fairly and respectfully toward other community members.
- Use Petsflip in a manner consistent with applicable laws and these Guidelines.
- Recognize that freedom of expression is a core value, but it ends where it violates the rights and safety of others.
EEA — Enforcement Principles
When Petsflip becomes aware of content that may be unlawful or otherwise in breach of these Guidelines, we will:
- Review the content promptly and objectively.
- Take proportionate measures, such as removing content, issuing warnings, or suspending accounts.
- Inform affected users of the decision and the reasons for it, where appropriate and lawful to do so.
EEA — Removals, Notices, and Remedies
In line with applicable law, Petsflip may remove content or take additional action if content is illegal or causes serious harm. When we take action, we will:
- Provide affected users with information about the decision, including a description of the content or behavior that led to the action, where possible.
- Inform users of their available remedies and procedures for appeal or complaint.
EEA — Reporting and Complaints
Users in the EEA have access to Petsflip’s reporting tools and internal complaint mechanisms. If you disagree with a moderation decision, you can file an internal complaint using the process described in the notification you received. If your complaint is admissible and well-founded, we will reverse the decision.
If you remain unsatisfied after the internal complaint process, you may have the option to use certified out-of-court dispute resolution bodies, as permitted by local laws. Of course, pursuing judicial remedies is also available to users at any time.
EEA — How We Make Decisions
Our moderation team uses a combination of automated tools and manual review. Automated classification helps us prioritize potentially illegal or harmful content, but final decisions involve human review and assessment of context. We aim to be objective, transparent, and proportionate in our actions.
Reporting Process & How to Submit a Report
We provide multiple ways to file reports:
- Use the in-app Report button on the piece of content or profile.
- Registered users can file a report directly through their account tools.
- Non-registered parties, institutions, or law enforcement can contact Petsflip via Contacts to report illegal content or concerns.
We acknowledge receipt of reports and will review them promptly. Our moderation team may contact reporting users if more information is needed.
Our Decision-Making & Notifications
Moderators review each report carefully and take into account a range of factors, such as:
- The nature and severity of the alleged violation.
- The potential impact on the victim or wider community.
- Applicable law and our Terms of Service.
- The user’s prior conduct and any expression of remorse or corrective action.
When action is taken that affects content or an account, we will notify the affected user by email (when content is involved) and provide information on the reasons for the action and how to appeal.
Guidelines, Tools, and Moderation Technology
Petsflip uses a combination of moderation approaches:
- Automated pattern recognition models to flag potentially violating content (text, images, and video).
- Image recognition systems that scan uploaded images for nudity, child exploitation indicators, or graphic violence.
- Manual review by trained moderators who consider context, user history, and intent.
Serious violations detected by automated tools may result in immediate removal and account suspension. Other cases are queued for manual review and decided case-by-case.
Options for Appeal & Internal Complaint Process
Every affected user has the right to appeal a moderation decision through Petsflip’s internal complaint system. The process is as follows:
- When we notify you of a moderation action, we will include instructions and a link to our internal complaint form.
- You may submit a complaint within six months of our decision (or as otherwise stated in the notification).
- Our Internal Complaint Team — separate from the moderation team — will review admissible complaints and make an independent decision.
- If the complaint is upheld, we will reverse the decision and notify you of the outcome.
EEA users may also be able to seek certified out-of-court dispute resolution or pursue judicial remedies where permitted by law.
Notification to Law Enforcement
If we become aware of information that gives rise to a serious suspicion of a criminal offense — especially where the safety of any person is at risk — Petsflip will notify appropriate law enforcement and public safety authorities and provide relevant information available to us.
Preservation of Evidence
When we investigate reports, we may preserve content, images, and metadata as evidence in accordance with data protection and retention laws. This may include retaining copies for review by law enforcement if legally requested.
Final Notes & Commitment
Petsflip is committed to providing a safe, fun, and fair community for everyone. We will continue to refine these Guidelines and our enforcement approach to reflect emerging risks, legal changes, and community feedback.
If you have concerns, questions, or need to report content, please use the in-app reporting tools or contact us at Contacts. We will respond to reports promptly and will keep you informed of outcomes where appropriate.
